Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge, Raja 6th George Bridge (Bhairab Rail Bridge) Saidoy Nazrul Islam Bridge: Even though the development of the road in evolution of time, waterways and railways are still recognized and popular as a means of communication. One of the rivers is still in trade. Launch, freight cargo and barges are operating regularly in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Haor region of Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria and other parts of the country including Dhaka.

The ferry was going on for long periods of crossing the Meghna river by road. Ferry could take a long time to cross. For development of road communication, on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, the Meghna River was constructed at a cost of Tk 635 crore (1999-2002), the Sayedee Nazrul Islam Bridge.
